Hi all! Sorry its been so long since my last update! Scotland has been in a stay at home lockdown since I returned in January, so there really wasn't much going on to post about.

When I first returned nothing was open, so I took that time to enjoy some lovely walks, so here's some Glasgow scenery from January:

At the beginning of February, we had our first in person class of the semester! We got to practice lambing on the simulator and learned how to care for neonatal lambs, including how to deal with entropion (an eye condition) and how to tube feed lambs that aren't getting enough milk or colostrum. Of course Glasgow decided to celebrate with us with a nice dusting of snow!

After the snows stopped and the weather was decent for a weekend, my friends and I decided to take a walk down to Pollok Country Park in the south of Glasgow. In total we walked about 14 km from Partick, across the Clyde river, and down to the park. Once in the park there is a beautiful old manor house and lots of Highland coos to see!

After that hike, we decided to do another one the next weekend to Glasgow Green. We walked almost 18 km this time along the river Clyde to the park, and then back again through the city center, where of course we stopped for some fish and chips!

We then had our final in person class of the year, a urinalysis lab to go with our Urinary System module. We got to practice using test strips and refractometers to analyze urine, which is very useful in diagnosing a variety of issues, not just renal disease!

After that it was time to head off to lambing for 2 weeks over spring break! My friend and I went to a lovely farm in Killearn, Scotland. We got so much hands on experience from the daily and routine care of the sheep to pulling out lambs and correcting prolapses. It was truly an amazing experience that I will never forget, and will be very valuable knowledge as a veterinarian to know what exactly a farmer is going through and how to better address their needs. Plus, who does love some little lamb snuggles!

Now that we're almost done with spring break, it's back to studying for our exams in the middle of May. Of course we're also all very excited for everything opening up again on April 26th too!
